Born in Laos of Hmong descent and raised in the United States.
Ms. Cha was inspired early in life by her father, a CIA/Nurse who
impressed upon her the elements of structure and form,
sophistication and chicness in the way he dressed. Her mother
instilled courage and passion for life, which is now reflected in
her own ambition and confidence. Through her grandmother,
Ms. Cha was shown the exquisite beauty of hand-made
embroidered design in the form of the meticulous art of the
traditional Hmong “paj ntauj," which means “flower cloth” in Hmong. And from the many tales of her grandfather,
Sai Chou Cha, a Hmong Monarch and the personal adviser to Sisavang Vatthana-the King of Laos. Has molded her to never give up her goals, take risk and do everything with dignity.
Ms. Cha studied Fashion Designer at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Designing and Merchandising). In 2001, Ms. Cha designed uniforms for the hip Ono restaurant owned by Jeffrey Chodorow at the Gansevoort Hotel New York city. In 2003, The University of Wisconsin awarded Ms. Cha the honor Education Conference Speaker in Fashion Design. In 2007, New Vision Apparel Inc. tapped her to relaunch Rampage, a licensing own by Inconix, which also houses Badgley Mishka, and London Fog, among others. For her first collection at Rampage, Gisele Bunchen was signed to open the national ad campaign, followed by Bar Refaeli and Irina Shayk.
Ms. Cha, a respected designer for varies Contemporary/Designer fashion labels for well over a decade. Whose clients include Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and many worldwide boutiques. Ms. Cha's designs have been featured on TV shows and in various fashion magazines such as the New York Times, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Us Weekly, People, In Touch, Teen Vogue, Lucky, Glamour, Instyle, WWD, Star, Ok, Daily News, Redbook, Real Simple, E News, The Today Show, and more. Her designs had graced many red carpet events and awards such as The Oscar, The Golden Globe and The Grammys. Ms. Cha has dressed celebrities and fashion icons: Kourtney Kardashian, Miss USA Hillary Cruz, Giuliana Rancic, Carrie Ann Inaba, Colbie Caillat, Linda Fargo, Pat Cleveland, Anna Cleveland, Kim France and Cosmopitan Editor in Chef Michele Promaulayko just to name a few.
In 2012, Ms. Cha launched her luxury social evening label, "CHONG CHA". She debuted her first collection runway show during NYC Fashion Week Spring 2013. In June 2014, Ms. Cha designed uniforms for The Hills NYC-AKA Don Hill and White Street restaurant owned by media tycoon Dan Abram. Fall 2015, Ms. Cha designed uniforms for Stratis Morfogen's restaurant Jue Lan Club. In Fall 2016, Ms. Cha is featured in the book and film documentary "Success That Looks Like Me" by Susan Pha. A project with the mission of inspiring and empowering others through the life stories, messages, and biographies of 25 extraordinary people.
